[ Idly, she plays with the bubbles after the creation bursts into them, fully amused by the display. ]
Oh, you mean working with the Chief?
[ With all the bubbles gone, her gaze returns to Furina, her hair blowing gently in the breeze. The truth is, she doesn't think of the far off future much; in Syndicate, no tomorrow is a guarantee, even for someone like her. Leaving has crossed her mind here and there, of course, but never very seriously. ]
Sounds fun, though I guess the work will never technically be done. Maybe I could hop back and forth between, just so those little guys don't think I'm a fugitive or something. But I'd also get worried about mania spreading to Teyvat and Fontaine...
[ She says the words casually, even though it's obviously a touchy topic for those that come from her world. Sinners are less afraid of mania because they're already so infected with it — most others are scared to be around it in the smallest portions. ]
How come I can't just live with you? That'd save money.
( furina doesn't fully understand mania, she wonders if it's a sort of sickness that's yet to reach the corners of teyvat. there are curses that stem from a fallen nation, and part of her wonders if it's like that. if so, she can understand why the other worries so much, but with furina having been around a few people it's not like she's contracted anything.
then again, she doesn't know who has mania and who doesn't. it could be a blessing that she's managed to avoid it, but it is a serious subject to hella of all people. )
You can't stay with me!
( because her house is junky as hell, and she lives in fontaine with all sorts of goings-on. also from the fact that hella living with a false archon isn't on anyone's bucket list, furina's a sham, and that also brings issues to the table for those that don't really know her.
she doesn't want to embarrass herself in front of hella, there's also the fact she worries about the concept of fontaine, she can't steal things like she does. it'd just be a bad place all together to keep hella when she has such sticky fingers.
if hella did live with her, things such as housing would be free, but there are other important matters. )
Also. You can't swim, can you live in a nation full of water?
[ She actually looks taken off guard by this... she assumed Furina would totally invite her in and want to show her all the cool trinkets she most definitely has in her house. In her mind's eye, it's like an underwater palace, with shimmering floors and pretty fountains everywhere. Or, something more humble, since she's said she left behind her old job.
And, there's still the matter of her "godhood," whatever she meant by that. Her brow knits, puzzled. ]
Isn't there boats and stuff? It's not like I need to swim everywhere, right? [ She waves a hand, flippant. ] I let you see my cell!
( it's messy, it's horrible, she doesn't even have food in the fridge and also it's just not a place to invite anyone.
she thinks back to when clorinde cleaned up all her clothes because furina is.... a slob, oh, if hella only knew then she'd make fun of her and...
and...
move out. )
What if you fall out the boat? There's monsters, and lots of water, and it would bore you having to deal with these things. You wouldn't want to live with me.
But I deal with monsters and gross stuff everyday... it's basically my job! Not to mention I only ever lived in shitholes before the MBCC. So what if I get some water on me?
[ Pouting, she crosses her arms while still reclining in the chair, giving Furina a hard stare before averting her eyes to the ocean. Furina's seen her living conditions... and knows that she grew up on the streets... she must know that it's not like Hella thinks she'll be walking into a five star hotel, right? Yes, she must know that. So, Hella assumes there must be some other reason for her avoidance, these quickly fired off excuses. ]
If you don't want me there, just say that. [ She huffs, sounding a little stung. Despite her being miffed, the sentiment seems to be genuine — much as she likes to play and scam, she prefers to be straightforwardly honest with those who are her companions. ] I thought you wanted me to come, though.
( listen, can a girl who is pathetic not be a little insecure if she likes someone? they're friends... yes, friends. girl friends who hang out so of course furina would be worried about showing her living situation. )
When you say it like that it makes me feel bad...
( look at her, she's already sighing tiredly as she leans against the railings.
hella has said a lot about herself, showed her cell, and gave so much more than what furina would gave expected.
ugh.... )
Okay. Okay... You have to promise that what you see... you won't think of me differently.
( a little guiltily and pouting works, you know. especially when a little seagull flies over by the railing, standing on it and looking in the direction of furina's hat then ... if hella has her beanie then that is also a point of interest. )
[ Oh, the pouting worked... she'll have to store away this tactic for another time. To tell the truth, she didn't expect Furina to give in so easily; she'd thought she would move on or weasel away with some promise of talking about it later. So, she blinks owlishly, looking surprised. And confused. Especially at the seagull eyeing her and Furina's hats. ]
You're acting like there's a dead body in there or something! God.
[ Should she be concerned??? Hella keeps her arms folded, but the tension in them drops a bit, her nails picking at her biceps idly. ]
I promise that whatever's in there won't make me think of you differently. Happy? [ She tries to introduce more levity back into her tone, reaching out to give Furina a fake little punch in the shoulder, light enough to be joking, but firm enough to try to knock her out of being concerned about this. ] You'd have to have something insane in store to scare me off.
( maybe because hella is so cute that it worked which could be the case, but it's not so bad if furina puts her mind to it. clean it, maybe say she's busy and hella can't come over yet, there's a lot of things she can say.
besides, it's not like she ever said when she could come over. )
I might.
( she doesn't, but she could, it's just... a very messy house, an unhealthy living situation, for her to act as if her life is so put together... it's easy to tell that furina has let herself go in some ways. however, that's what happens when the world hates you for lying about something so important. )
Now, I know talking about my house isn't as interesting, as this... look, do you see that?
( she turns to point at something in the sea, but there's that seagull again, hopping close to hella, and eyeing her hat with interest. furina's a little confused by its actions, watching it herself to see what it's doing. it has the movements of a creature that's up to something.
it hops over to hella's folded chair, sitting on the arm rest and opening its mouth. )
[ She muses, tugging her eyes away from what Furina was pointing at to look at the seagull instead. Now, being a Syndican, she knows when someone has a glint of mischief or trickery in their eyes. This bird is giving major suspicious vibes, and her kneejerk reaction to that is to try to scare it off — luckily, she's grown up enough to not shout at it or do something drastic. Instead, she just waves a hand a bit at it, pursing her lips. ]
Go on, shoo. I don't have any food.
[ Just then, the seagull does jump up, allegedly in response to the shooing — but really? To snap its beak around the puffball at the top of Hella's hat, trying to take it with it in its escape. Hella grabs the bottom edge just in time, but now she and the seagull are in a tug of war above her head, and she's lowkey losing. ]
What the — what the fuck!!
[ She squawks, waving her free arm wildly, which may or may not smack Furina in the process. ]
( hella has this, furina just knows hella can win against a seagull, but she can't help the way her eyes widen, and a small laugh leaves from between her lips. really, hella does have a pretty decent hat that an animal would love to play with. furina brings one hand to her mouth to muffle the noise, until she is too hit with the other's free arm— )
H-Hey!? What am I supposed to do!!
( other than sit here and laugh, this is not her battle, but furina's already making her way over to try and touch at the seagull (who will possibly flap its wings away) in her attempt to help.
she doesn't want to cripple the bird, but she thinks that grabbing for it at its side to tug it away might work. as long as she doesn't lose her grip on it. the bird is flapping its feet, not wanting to let go of the hat... to it, this is a spoils of war, and it wants it! this is normal on cruise ships, but there might be a few people flashing their cameras at the scene with interest.
